At PVR Juhu, Mumbai.

Imtiaz Ali, one of industry’s most infamous experimental film-makers spoke about the film.  1942- A love story is considered as one of the landmarks in Indian films made on India’s freedom struggle. Imtiaz Ali , says the film, was one of his early inspirations, to venture into film-making.  Imtiaz who has also made films in romantic genre, says this movie by far is one of the best when it comes to onscreen romance between the lead pair.  He further added that he fell in love with Manisha Koirala after watching this film. Imtiaz Ali went on to explain how he liked the detailing and vividly described the key scenes from the film.

Writer Kaamna Chandra spoke about her experience in writing one of Bollywood’s finest masterpieces.

Art director Nitin Desai also spoke about how his career catapulted after the success of 1942- A love story. Javed Akhtar and actor Jackie Shroff provided the comic relief, to keep the audiences enthralled and entertained, after an evening of serious discussions on films.

Things you did not know about 1942- A Love Story

Jackie Shroff did not want to take up the film, due to a series of injuries and ill-health. But he shot for the film nevertheless.

Vidhu Vinod Chopra did not want “ek ladki ko dekha” song to be included in the film, as the film already had many soft songs. But after Javed Akhtar’s insistence he listened to the song, and then agreed to accommodate it in the film.
